Garden Club Meeting

I went to the garden club meeting yesterday. It's so wonderful to hang out with people of all ages that have the same interests as me. The speaker was a lady from a local landscaping company. She talked about the steps to creating your garden and landscaping. She talked about different types and shapes of gardens. What I learned first is if you are starting from scratch you should always lay out the grass first. And make sure you don't have a patch of grass here and a patch of grass there. It should be a good size area of grass or it will look at of place. Also, you should use your house as the back drop not just part of the flower bed next to the house. She mentioned retaining walls a little bit. Retaining walls are important to hold the soil but can also be decorative. If you are not sure how to build one, you should get a professional to install it because if it's not right it won't hold as long as they should. She said that many manufacturers of stones have how-to's on their websites. Here is her company's website http://www.accentlandscapesinc.com/
